GEN-FIND's operations are based in Edmonton (Head office) and Calgary, Alberta, Canada with our most important resource being our full-time team of researchers who have extensive and capable experience records in the fields of genealogical and probate research. The majority of our investigations are conducted in public archives and private record repositories, however our library office in Edmonton also has an extensive & major collection of research archival material, both textual and digitized.
Our genealogical library is one of the most significant in Western Canada for indexed-based resources pertaining to Canadian genealogy and is one of our priorities for ongoing development & enhancement. Our priority is to continue to maintain our extensive text-based records as well as extend our resource options involving micro-publications, indexed Internet sites, CD-ROM based technologies, and dial-up databases. Our library contains many millions of references, dating from the 17th century to the present day, with our research specialities more prominent in the collection involving the regions of Canada, England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland and 20th century resource references.
As most researchers know, work assignments are not complete with just the simple determination of ancestors, descendants and/or beneficiaries. The results must be documented and further follow-up paperwork initiated in the matters of heirship administration. Accordingly, our firm has the support team and digital information to facilitate the necessary additional administration of cases to their completion.
Our research capabilities have extended worldwide and we have conducted successful research strategies and located subjects, ancestrally & descendancy, on five of the six continents for as early a period as the 17th century to the present. In most of these countries, we have a network of research agents, correspondents, and other contacts who will work on our behalf for clients.
All of our researchers, whether in-house or outside, are well-experienced and every effort has been made to use individuals who have years of research experience and/or are certified/accredited with a genealogical standards body. Should we not have the experience or research capabilities to properly handle your case for the region of interest, we will do what we can to provide you with names of researchers or research firms who may be better equipped to handle the case in question, or we will endeavour to subcontract the work out to them on your behalf, should that be the chosen option.
